  30.
  31. 1.
  32.         The sky was grey, the blackbirds huddled in groups on the telephone
  33. wires.  A foot steps into a puddle.  The man curses his misfortune as he
  34. squishes down the street.
  35.
  36. 2.
  37.
  38.         "The damnable mornings here in DeKalb, you think that this was fucking
  39. hell." muttered Jeff
  40.
  41.         "It is hell, we've been here 2 months now, you should know that by
  42. now," replied Jared.
  43.
  44.         "Fuck you, Jared, it was something to say."
  45.
  46.         "Yeah, I suppose you're right."
  47.
  48.         The conversation continued on in the same fashion for the rest of the
  49. walk to class, continuing after class for all eternity.  It was a universal
  50. conversation, everyone was having it.  Some took a break every once in a while,
  51. but there was never a time in the history of the university that this
  52. conversation wasn't to be had somewhere on campus.
  53.
  54. 3.
  55.
  56.         "You know, sometimes I really wonder what I can believe in.  It all
  57. seems so god-damned futile.  I certainly can't believe in god.  I couldn't tell
  58. you either way if you or I existed or not.  Maybe that is all that is certain
  59. anymore."
  60.
  61.         "What do you mean?"
  62.
  63.         "Take a look at things and you'll see what I mean.  Look at my hand.
  64. Does it exist?"
  65.
  66.         "Yeah, sure."
  67.
  68.         "How do you know it exists?"
  69.
  70.         "Well... uh, I don't know, it just does."
  71.
  72.         "It doesn't exist at all."
  73.
  74.         "You can't believe that, you can see it and feel it."
  75.
  76.         "No, I don't believe that, but I don't believe that it exists either.
  77. Perhaps your mind is just making you think you have hands.  I really don't know
  78. what exists and what doesn't.  It seems to me that the only thing that you can
  79. count on is confusion."
  80.
  81.         "What's your point?"
  82.
  83.         "There is none."
  84.
  85. 4.
  86.
  87.         "Why don't you just fucking shut up?"
  88.
